Jianfeng Zhou, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Systems Technology. His research explores how technologies can improve our farming practices and ability to collect key information on agricultural systems to inform decision-making. One component of his work focuses on smart animal production approaches such as robotic and AI technologies to support Precision Livestock Farming (PLF). His research also looks at the potential for proximal and unmanned aerial system (UAS)-based remote sensing systems to scout crops and monitor water, nutrition, and soils and mechanical and automation technologies for tree-fruit and row crop management and harvest. In addition, he explores the potential to use internet of things technology and big data to enhance agricultural systems management and inform crop and livestock management.
