Environmental Quality Inventive Program (EQIP) – USDA, NRCS

Topics:

Through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) farmers and landowners can receive financial and technical assistance to implement a specific practice.  There is a long list of practices, and the payment rates are set by each state.  These are usually 3-year contracts to receive paybacks for practices.

There are a range of practices included in this program, from cover cropping to creating pollinator habitat plans to establishing windbreaks.  Check out the full list of practices and payment rates in Missouri.

Historically underserved (HU) participants can apply to receive advance payments to help offset start-up costs necessary to implement practices. Visit the NRCS Website for more information on advance payments.

Some practices require that you work with a technical service provider to implement the practice. Technical service providers (TSPs) may be an individual, a private business, American Indian tributes, nonprofit organizations, or public agencies. These experts help you plan, design, and implement regenerative practices. Learn more about TSPs (or to learn how to become a TSP).

Applications are acceptable throughout the year. To get started with EQIP, contact your local NRCS office-which you can locate on this map. An NRCS conservationist will visit you and assess the natural resources on your land and provide information on a variety of conservation practices or system alternatives.  Learn more about how to apply!
